About Mohid

Mohid helps you find halal restaurants, masjids with prayer and iqamah times, and halal groceries and butchers near you, on the web at mohid.us/app and soon on iPhone and Android.

How we label halal

✓ Certified: a halal certifier certified the place, and a Mohid moderator checked the certificate or the certifier's list.
Owner-verified: the owner or manager told us what is halal.
Community-reported: added by Mohid users and not yet confirmed.
Community · OSM: tagged as serving halal food (diet:halal) by OpenStreetMap volunteers. Not checked by Mohid.
Unverified · OSM: only the name or cuisine on OpenStreetMap suggests halal. Please confirm with the place.

Always check with the place if you're unsure. You can report wrong information from any place page in the app.

Data sources and credits

Places: many listings come from OpenStreetMap. © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL). Other listings, reviews, photos and masjid times are added by Mohid users, owners and moderators.
Maps and address search: map tiles © OpenStreetMap contributors; address and ZIP search by Nominatim; maps drawn with Leaflet.
Photos: some place photos come from Wikimedia Commons and are used under their free licenses (such as CC BY and CC BY-SA). Each photo's author, license and source are shown in the app when you tap the photo.
City names for places without an address use US Census Bureau place data.
Prayer times are calculated on your device with the open-source Adhan library; masjid iqamah times are posted by each masjid.
